vintage postcard collection, 2016 - ongoing

I have been collecting 18 postcards of the 18 barracks since 2016 through different platforms such as Marktplaats, personal website, etc. As an image, the postcard is not innocent. It monumentalizes the building, erasing the lives, conflicts, and traumas that passed through it. It frames the barracks as a civic landmark rather than a contested site.

2016년부터 취미 물품, 개인 웹사이트 등 다양한 경로를 통해 보우스트의 18개 막사가 담긴 엽서 18장을 수집해왔다. 이 엽서들은 막사 건물들을 기념하기 위해 제작되었다. 기념비적으로 보여지는 이 이미지에는 그 안을 지나간 사람들의 삶과 갈등, 트라우마의 흔적들은 존재하지 않는다. 이 오래된 엽서 이미지 안의 막사 자체는 논쟁의 현장이 아닌 시민의 랜드마크로 남는다.
